Negin Ehtesabian- Illustration

Negin is a contemporary illustrator who's work i chose to write about because of the attention to detail and variation of her work. She currently is doing an MA in Animation at Bristol UWE,  England and works freelance producing children's book illustration.

The layering of this particular image i think looks really effective  because of the muted colour, against different textures printed or drawn into a composition that works with the negative space.

Craig Ward

Craig Ward uses type in a way that entwined nature and man made objects to give a representation of the alphabet, giving an end result of an image that is outstandingly beautiful.

This image was made using cuttings of hair from a hairdressers when Craig had gone to get his hair cut and saw what resembled the letter C on the floor. He then played around with these cuttings until the letters came to life. After these where put into Photofont to create the new type.

Ward's work has been influenced by many experimental artists such as Chuck Close, and later on, Karsten Schmidt. He felt that Chuck Close's work was relevant to his because he believed that the brain was capable of making huge cognitive leaps when it came to recognising forms like the face. And that, because of that, he felt comfortable and able to abstract it so greatly. The same was said for Craig's work by using letters that have been so deformed in shape but we can still read the meaning.

Stefan Sagmeister- ART GRANDEUR NATURE 2004

For the series; list of 'things i have learned,' Sagmeister made several quotations into short slides which included different ways of representing the words. For this particular one, 'Art Grandeur Nature,' he used inspiration from his childhood. His Grandfather had been trained in the art of sign painting and many examples had been apart of the house Sagmeister grew up in.

I think what is most eye catching about this use of natural typography is the attention to detail and placements. Each word can be associated with its background, for example the 'To Look' image is placed over a picturesque view.

Surprise Typography

This is a photo that I took when walking around the Southgate shopping center in Bath. I really like the negative space the type gives which I think makes the shop look more unique.

Anita Singh- sunflower seeds exhibit

This is amazing. I love how it gets you to think about the process of how things are produced because of what its made from. I think walking in here and being able to interact with the vast amount of seeds would be really interesting so when I'm back home, definitely a trip to London is in order!

'the most beautiful thing'

For one of our assignments we were told to walk around the grounds of our campus and record the most beautiful object we find. It was a way of opening our eyes to the un-obvious things around us that we don't necessarily see every day. I really liked the concept of this as you can see so many new things when you see the world from a different perspective.

Explored

This image that i found on flicker has been named, Explored. I really loved the focus on this as it has the effect of drawing your eyes strait to the suspended feet and the ground below. I think the colours of the trees in the background also add to a great composition.
